Andy says, “The idea was based around a previous relationship of mine. It’s about the journeys of two different people coming out of the same relationship. One half is finding it hard to let go and move on while the other has closed the door and is getting on with life.”
After Andy had the initial idea, the song was later finished at a songwriter’s retreat in Melbourne, resulting in a modern country song with all the hallmarks of a classic feel. When the idea emerged that the track would be a good duet, Andy says making the call to the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter was an easy decision.
He says, “I am blessed to have the amazing Della Harris sing it with me. I love the vibe she added to the song – it unquestionably paints a picture of lost love.”
lyrics
How many times
V1 Boy
INTRO
I drove past your house last night, To see if you were home
Knew that it wasn’t right, But I needed to know
How did we fall apart, Where did we lose out way
I just don’t I know how to go, when all I wanna do is stay
Chorus
How many times before I find my way
Before I can let go of what we had yesterday
How many tears do we both have to cry
before I find the strength to say goodbye, how many times
V2 Girl
I packed up our memories, And closed the door on you
I guess we weren’t meant to be, Why can’t you see this too
I didn’t go out last night, Cause I need to be alone
I saw your car pass by, when you thought I wasn’t home
Chorus
How many times before you your find way
Before you can let go of what we had yesterday
How many tears do we both have to cry
before you find the strength to say goodbye, how any times
Together
How many times before we find our way
Before we can let go of what we had yesterday
How many tears do we both have to cry
before I find the strength to say goodbye, you need you to find a way to say goodbye
Before we find the strength to say goodbye How many times
